Emblems - 2007 series
2007 Emblems Photo Gallery | Slideshow
The emblem series continues in 2007 with new patterns and continued experimentation with tesselation and color. More on the emblem series...
Emblems
Emblems are in the same vein as the Flow Series. Measuring only 8" x 8", they are smaller tokens of a bigger representation of a larger whole. Drawn from previous and new patterns, they play more freely with color across a broader palette than the larger works. The pieces lend themselves to random juxtaposition, creating more dynamic tensions than the continuous threads of the other multi-panel pieces.
All Emblems are Italian glass tile with ceramic and hardware detail 8" x 8" x 1" and ready to hang. Availability as indicated below. Click one for larger additional photos. Please contact Heather if you see something you like.

Definition of Emblem
"An Emblem, in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, was an enigmatic picture with a motto and explanatory verse attached. In the sixteenth and seventeeth centuries, emblems often took the form of puzzling little drawings, the meaning of which was explained in appended verses.... In modern usage, an emblem is a visible object representing an abstract quality...." (members.fortunecity.es/fabianvillegas/drama/glossary-e.htm)
